How to Open an Etrade Account

E*Trade is a very popular online broker that allows anyone to trade stocks, bonds, mutual funds and commodities. Not only is E*Trade a very popular broker it is also a very reliable one, providing some of the most accurate and up to date information across the whole spectrum of financial markets. Moreover, in addition to providing brokerage services E*Trade also offers checking, savings, CD and credit card accounts with competitive interest rates.
If you want to open an E*Trade account just follow a few simple steps and you will be on your way to trading stocks online or writing checks using your new checking account.

Instructions

1. To open an account with E*Trade go to etrade.com website and on the top right hand side click 'Open An Account' tab. This will take you to a page with all the available accounts which E*Trade currently offers.


2. Pick the account that you would like to open such as Trading and Investing account, Retirement account, or simply a Checking or Savings account.


3. Once you've decided on which account you want to open click on 'Apply' right next to that account description. Alternatively you can click on 'Learn More' to find out all the features and benefits that a particular account offers. Once you click the 'Apply' link it will take you to the registration page where you will have to provide some personal information.


4. Complete the registration form in its entirety beginning from step 1 and all the way to 4. At the end don't forget to provide your existing checking account number (from another bank) if you have one. Doing this will link your E*Trade account with your checking account and allow you to transfer money between these accounts quickly and efficiently. Otherwise if you do not have an existing checking account you will have to mail a money order or bank check to E*Trade in order to fund your account. This is a very slow method and really deters you from using your account as soon as you open it, especially if you intend on using E*Trade for trading stocks or commodities.


5. The last step includes verifying your existing checking account if you decide to link it to your new E*Trade account. Verifying your account takes no longer than 48 hours and E*Trade customer service will send you all the necessary instructions on how to do it.
